Meet Dr. Viviani
Gary L. Viviani received the BSEE, MSEE and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University in 1977, 1978 and 1980 respectively.
His interests in nonlinear dynamics and topics such as machine learning and machine vision grew out of work as a research scientist in Central Research at Dupont. Subsequently, he held the GSU Research Professorship at Lamar University, Beaumont, TX, which involved jointly working with industry to solve complex large-scale control system problems. As Principal Engineer at Textron Defense, Wilmington, MA, he developed autonomous systems with cognitive abilities. As the Director of Control Systems at Varian Semiconductor, Gloucester, MA, he was responsible for developing very advanced continuously operating autonomous systems with complete “recall” and self-recovery capabilities. Prior to starting VivatronX, Dr. Viviani served as Vice President and Chief Scientist at Insitu, Bingen, WA, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, where he was directly involved with making smaller “brains” for autonomous robotic airplanes.
